Current trends

I think my animation fits into the market place because it is very similar to other cartoons on at the moment that are really successful . The style is simple which will appeal as it's not hand to understand, the characters are funny and friendly. Also it's different as there is nothing with these characters on at the moment so it'll be different. I think my animation fits in well more with what is on and around on at the moment. The channels i would like my animation to be on is cbeebies or milkshake on channel 5 showing in the morning and then again around fish in the afternoon. this way it'll be on around the times my target audience will be up in the morning and back from school. Also if it's on these channels i know it'll be successful because the other animations that are on are very popular.

Representations and Ethics in cartoons

Why does the writer of the article believe Rio 2 is problematic in terms of its representations?
The writer thinks that they way rio 2 portrays a few things is wrong. For example the voice actors are all latin american and african american and because of all the characters in rio 2 are jungle characters this could be seen as being rasist.

What are PEPs and why are they an issue for racial representation?
PEPs are problem contexts, entertainment contexts and performance contexts. They're are a issue for racial representation because it is known that in PEPs that black people are stereotyped as being the "bad" people in animations. Dr Charles Da Costa states "Within PEPs, black people and other genotypes have to be associated with vexing circumstances,". In family animations white people are used more frequently because it is said that people can relate and associate better with them and this is what causes the problems. It brings our certain stereotypes and makes it out that the black ethnicity is often characterised as villainy, athleticism and mockery.

Why does Da Costa believe we end up with stereotypes in animation?
Da Costa believes that one of the reasons we end up with stereotypes in animation might be because "Decisions on character and performance must be made quickly in order for design and production processes to commence and advance."

What does Turbo say about social mobility?
Turbo 2013, a film about a snail who aspires to race. It comes across that whites are favoured more. For example they are targeted and used for their stereotypes (Mexicans run a taco stand).

Flash

To create a moving GIF/movie, you start by importing the images you want to animate. Place one of the images on the workspace and in the timeline above 'control click' 'add blank keyframe' and then add  the rest of the images. If you want to make the animation longer 'control click' add frame onto each key frame. Also when making the animation and you want to see what you have previously done on the frame before click 'onion skin' so as the see a trace. To create a 'symbol', after making the object, create a new layer, then 'modify' 'convert to symbol'. You can then delete the image off the workspace as it will appear in the library.

I then went on to do my own and try out the same method but with different drawings and using some new techniques.
